FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ALL VACCINATED PEE-WEES WILL BE ACCEPTED
Quebec City, September 22, 2021 - The organization of the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament announced today that the rules regarding the age of players who can participate have been changed. From now on, ALL pee-wee age players will be accepted into the 2022 Tournament provided they are properly vaccinated.
Amendments to the regulations
Following the announcement of the 2022 edition being held last week, Tournament management had discussions with several stakeholders from Quebec, Canada and the United States. In light of these discussions, the organization decided to change the rules regarding the age of players who can participate in the Tournament, which stipulated that only 2009 vaccinated players would be accepted. We are therefore announcing today that ALL pee-wee age players will be accepted into the 2022 Tournament provided they are adequately vaccinated, according to Health Canada standards, as of February 2, 2022. Thus, in the event that the vaccination of children under 12 begins this fall, this new regulation will give the 2010 players the opportunity to be able to participate too. Proof of vaccination for all team members must be provided and validated by the organization before their arrival.
The important thing remains, that all team members must have received their two doses (or their vaccine authorized in Canada, ex: Johnson & Johnson which requires only one dose) before February 2, 2022. This date considers the fact that the vaccine is effective 7 days after being administered and that the tournament begins on February 9. We will not accept any player vaccinated after this date under any conditions. It should also be understood that this is a huge uphill logistics and verification work for the organization. This time is necessary for our team to get it right and to ensure that all teams will be compliant. Our guideline: make sure EVERYONE is safe!
